Prof. Arun K. Tangirala is a Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Madras since 2004. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras and Doctoral degree in Process Control & Monitoring from the University of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Tangirala’s research interests span the fields of process systems engineering, process control and monitoring, system identification, applied signal processing and fuel cell systems. He has been teaching several full-term and short-term courses on process control, system identification, theory and applications of wavelet transforms, random processes and fuel cell systems. He is the author of a comprehensive classroom text on System Identification titled “Principles of System Identification: Theory and Practice”, published by CRC Press.

Prof. Mani Bhushan is currently a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Bombay. He has a Doctoral degree from IIT Bombay. He was a Post-Doctoral scholar at Purdue University. Subsequently, he worked as an Assistant Professor at University of Alberta, Canada. He was also a visiting researcher at Carnegie Mellon University. His main areas of interest are Nonlinear, Constrained State Estimation, Sensor Network Design, Optimal Alarm Management, and Process Data Analysis.

Raghunathan Rengaswamy

Prof. Raghunathan Rengaswamy is a Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Madras. Prior to this, he was a Professor, Chemical Engineering and co-director of the Process Control and Optimization Consortium (PCOC) at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX USA, Associate and full Professor at Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY and Assistant Professor at IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India. He was also a visiting professor at Purdue University, USA (2001), and spent summers as visiting researcher in other universities such as University of Delaware, USA and University of Alberta, Canada. Rengaswamy’s major research interests are in the areas of Data Analytics, Fault Detection and Diagnosis DD), Sensor Placement (SP) algorithms for FDD, Fuel Cells and Droplet-based Microfluidics.

Balaraman Ravindran

Prof. Balaraman Ravindran has a doctoral degree from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is currently a professor in the department of computer science at IIT Madras. He has been working in the domain of complex data analytics for nearly a decade and in the broader area of machine learning for nearly two. He has been recently leading investigations into learning with networked data, where both the input and output space has significant structure in them. His work has been supported by Yahoo! labs, General Motors R&D, DST, Adobe Research, and Ericsson Research. With Ericsson research there has been active collaboration for the past 5 years on investigating algorithms for telecom call analysis, social computing in general and distributed computing abstractions for data analytics. He is also an advisor to several startups in the area of data analytics.

Shankar Narasimhan

Prof. Shankar Narasimhan is currently a professor in the department of chemical engineering at IIT Madras. His major research interests are in the areas of Data mining, Process Design and Optimization, Fault Detection and Diagnosis (FDD) and Fault Tolerant Control. He has co-authored several important papers and a book which has received critical appreciation in India and abroad.

Dr. Nirav P Bhatt

Dr. Nirav P Bhatt is an INSPIRE hosted Faculty in Systems & Control Group at IIT Madras. He earned his MTech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras and PhD in systems and data analysis of chemical processes from EPFL, Switzerland. He worked with Prof. J B Joshi at HBNI, Mumbai on analysis of reactive dissolution processes using experimental data before joining IIT Madras. His research interests include model-based analysis of experimental data, machine learning methods and data analytics for engineering and finance applications.

Nandan Sudarsanam

Prof. Nandan Sudarsanam has a Doctoral degree from MIT where he created new algorithms for experimentation, as well as the creation of meta-models from data which could be used to simulate the performance of various experimental algorithms. He has applied his techniques to various industries including commercial banking (Bank of America – Boston), automotive (Ford Motor Company – Detroit), manufacturing (Brakes India – Chennai), and over the last five years in high-frequency algorithmic trading (with Rackson Asset Management – New York). During his last stint as the Head of research at Rackson Asset Management, he has worked with large data sets and deployed data analytic techniques which lead to highly profitable trading strategies.

Sridharakumar Narasimhan

Prof. Sridharakumar Narasimhan finished his M. Tech (Integrated course) degree from IIT Bombay and his PhD from Clarkson University. Before joining IIT Madras as an Assistant Professor, he was a Post-Doctoral scholar in the department of Chemical Engineering, NTNU, Trondheim, Norway. His research interests are in process operations (control, fault diagnosis), system identification and optimization.

Mr. Suresh’s expertise is in the area of data sciences. In a career spanning over twenty-five years, he has helped organizations develop profitable brands and businesses using research and analytics. He has worked in the areas of advertising, market research and analytics with JWT, TNS India, and IBM Daksh. Currently he is involved in teaching market research as a visiting faculty at various IIM’s. He is also involved in training analytics professionals. Suresh graduated from IIT New Delhi with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1984, and completed his post- graduate diploma in management from IIM Bangalore in 1988.

Mr. Ganesh Sankaran is our Technical Lead Software & Hardware Development, working on SandMan. SandMan is a first of its kind cloud based solution for reducing casting rejections in foundries. He has a Dual Degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras. When he is not clacking away at his keyboard, beating JAVA into submission to implement new product features for SandMan, you can find him helping out with hardware related projects in the company. His major areas of interest are First Principles Modeling and Simulation / Software Development / Hardware prototyping.

Mr. Senthil Kumarasamy obtained his Diploma in Petroleum Engineering from CPCL Polytechnic, (formerly known as MRL Polytechnic), Chennai. He did his B.Tech in chemical engineering at Alagappa college of Technology (Popularly known as A.C.Tech) Anna University, Chennai. He received his M.Tech in Chemical engineering in 2010 from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai. He has more than thirteen years of experience in batch processing industry. Prior to joining Gyan Data, he was with ‘Indian Additives Limited‘, a joint venture of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Chevron Oronite Company LLC. He is also pursuing his Ph.D programme in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Madras.
